Dates and Route

October 6-14, 2017

The tentative window for this year's Raid de Himalaya is as above. It is possible that the dates shift out of this but it will not be by much. For those who need to plan well in advance you can do so by keeping a few days on either side of the end dates.

Flexi Time Rallying

In case we get snowed in or hit by earthquake...both distinct possibilities... the rally will bed down for the two days it normally takes to clear the mess and restart. Unlike 2004 and 2007 where the rally was cut short, 2017 will see a flexi time event, if needed. So mentally please keep a 48 hour window for delays on scheduling the 'return to home'!

6-7 October 2017: Manali

Administrative and Technical Scrutiny at the Citrus Resorts, Manali, to ensure the safety norms are adhered to by all 4x4s and motorcycles.

8 October 2017: Manali - Kaza

The daunting Gramphoo Losar stage. Motorcycles will go first, followed by the 4X4s. The rally will spend its first cold night at Kaza, the headquarters of Spiti.

9 October 2017 Kaza - Pang

The program for the day is the repeat of the Losar - Gramphoo stage albeit in reverse direction, followed by the Sarchu - Nakee La tarmac stage.

10 October 2017: Pang - Leh

Debring to Daat and back will form the two stages that will ensure high speed runs on a rapidly progressing road. The almost 100 km of competitive stage will start the deterioration of machines that will grow and grow in the following days.

11 October 2017: Leh - Kargil

The two stages planned for the day will be hard on both the machines and competitors.

12 October 2017: Kargil - Pensi La - Kargil

Two stages again in the Zanskar valley will turn the rally around yet again. Known to turn the tables on previous Raids, this year’s stages promise to be as difficult as in the years before.

13 October 2017: Kargil - Leh

The last days two stages- two in number - will see survivors limping back to the capital of Ladakh for a heroes welcome and the inevitable fight being carried to the Stewards table!

14 October 2017: Leh

A more than welcome Prize Giving Ceremony at Leh will close another chapter of the Maruti Suzuki Raid de Himalaya!
